Evil Wisdom vs. Godly Wisdom

LET US DAILY EXAMINE OUR HEARTS: You have heard so many times that Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get Wisdom: and with all thy getting get Understanding. But we often times miss the emphasis on examining the source of where that wisdom emerges from. The bible teaches us about two types of wisdom and the attributes of how they emerge into our hearts in James Chap 3:

EVIL WISDOM: 14 But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.

15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.

16 For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.

BITTER - great or heavy discontent or anger ENVY - jealousy (spite); ill-will towards STRIFE - controversy, dispute, quarrel, contend or contest LIE - deceiving, speak deliberate falsehoods SENSUAL - governed by fleshly appetite or passion DEVILISH - resembling or proceeding from an evil spirit, demon-like spirit CONFUSION - a state of disorder; instability; commotion EVIL WORK - wicked deeds and accomplishments

GOD'S WISDOM 17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.

PURE - clean and true (morally and ethically) PEACEABLE - relating to peace, loving peace GENTLE - equitable, fair, mild, seeming, suitable EASY TO BE INTREATED - easily obeying, compliant MERCY - goodness, lovingkindness, faithfulness GOOD FRUITS - fruit of the spirit; fruit of righteousness WITHOUT PARTIALITY - without dubiousness, ambiguity or uncertainty WITHOUT HYPOCRISY - without moral filth; wickedness
